From the Cliff House, you drive through the rural village of San Juan.   There is only one path that takes you to the bridge to cross over the Pecos River.

Once you drive over the bridge, just take the fork in the road to the right.    From here you are only a few miles from the full National Forest.   Where you can drive any direction you want.   You will see fence borders, if there is any private property to avoid.

Once in the National Forest, you will have about 1.5 million acres to explore.    To be safe, don’t venture too far off the forest road.    Cell phones won’t work in the forest, but if you open up your cell phone maps (from the cliff house) your GPS will still work
